Description:
Moving Through The Maelstrom With Darryl Robert Schoon Only the lost will find the way It is my belief that a time of unprecedented crisis has begun. While the economic crisis has been the focus of my writings, it is only one of many crises that are about to occur—economic, political, ecological, and spiritual. This blog may be helpful to you during these times. If it is, you will know it. If it isn’t, you will know it too. |

Events predicted are now in motion. It is beyond our power to stop. It is within our power, however, to understand.
We are seeing a system in disarray. That is temporary. Soon, the system will cease to exist. It is not good or bad. It is life. Ego-centered consciousness is always focused outward. That is its purpose. That purpose, however, will not serve us now. Blind to what is, the ego is a useless guide when our "reality" is in chaos. Each of us has an inner compass designed to guide us. But it is a compass we turn to only when our outer guidance system, the ego, fails us. That is the purpose of heightened external chaos, a forced turning inwards designed to help us find that compass . The human mind, sic the ego, collects and projects fears in the guise of protecting us . The ego's purpose is more duplicitous however. Its purpose is to protect itself, not you. If you understand this, you can extricate yourself from its grip. Extricate yourself and you are free. Darryl Robert Schoon www.survivethecrisis.com www.drschoon.com

The beginning of the end is underway. The events of the past two weeks mark another stage in the collapse of the economic system that began 300 years ago in England. Its end is in motion but so too is the beginning that will succeed it. For better of worse we are witness to perhaps the greatest transition of all times. This statement is hyperbole. It is the truth. Comparisons to the Great Depression are now being made. It is not the same, at least exactly so. This time the collapse of the economy will presage the beginning of another. Cultural, societal, religious, and economic shifts are always filled with conflict and tension. This conflict and tension is caused by the passage of the old giving way to the new. The new is coming but the old first must be swept away. This is what we are seeing. This is what we are witnessing. Better days and a better world are ahead but the river Jordan is between us and those better days—and the river is raging. Darryl Robert Schoon www.survivethecrisis.com www.drschoon.com

These two laws are the operating principles of the economic and political spheres. It is the 2nd, Divide & Conquer, which is the topic of today’s blog. I have often wondered how the few can rule the many in a democracy. Long before electronic voting machines with proprietary software codes could do the bidding of those who wished to subvert the democratic process, Divide & Conquer was the most effective way of so doing. The current version of Divide & Conquer is clearly evident in the manipulation of the political polarities of the left and the right, the innate conservative or liberal tendencies of the electorate. Liberals embrace change and conservatives resist it. While sometimes change is for the better, sometimes it is not. Irrespective of the merits, however, the conservative and liberal polarities each respond according to their internal tendencies to embrace or resist change. This natural schism is exploited in the political process by those who control the electorate. They use social flashpoints to alienate and divide the people in order to divert them from pressing issues, issues that benefit the few at the expense of the many. Politicians are used to exploit the political schisms in order to divert attention from these issues that if left unattended will destroy nations. We are far along in the process. There is not much further to go until the end—our end. Darryl Robert Schoon www.survivethecrisis.com www.drschoon.com

The US government has now bought an insurance company. Or rather, the Wall Street investment banks used the US taxpayer to buy AIG, the world’s largest insurance company for $85 billion. US taxpayers paid $85 billion for a company no one else would touch in order that banks would not have to reprice their bad investments. This makes battered women who return for more spousal abuse look like fighters. It has just been announced that Hank Greenberg, AIG's largest shareholder, will be allowed to bid on AIG assets. Instead of being wiped out in the US takeover, the US has allowed AIG shareholders to keep 20 % of their company and now they're going to allow Greenberg to come back in and cherry pick the remains. Why? The answer is clear. Greenberg is an insider. He was once considered to head the CIA but his past was so dirty, he wasn't nominated. Afterwards, he was forced out as head of AIG after it was discovered that he and his sons who controlled the largest US insurance companies had rigged insurance bids forcing corporation to pay more for coverage. Did Greenberg go to jail? No. Did Greenberg get wiped out when his company was headed for bankruptcy and needed a taxpayer bailout? No. Greenberg, AIG's largest shareholder, was allowed to keep 20 % of his stake in a company that was headed for the toilet and will now be allowed to cherry pick what remains as a result of taxpayer money AND the US is now on the hook for AIG's liabilities, liabilities which include billions in insurance policies guaranteeing subprime CDOs. The truth is that sometime between 1776 and 2008 the US government ceased being "our" government. It's "their" government and we are its patsies. Will you see this on the news? Will you hear this from your neighbors? No, like the good Germans who said theywere unaware of the Nazi death camps, Americans are just as ignorant of what "their" government is doing. But like in Germany, the ignorance is willful. We have crossed the line and Americans don't even know it. Ignorance is the prerequisite for control and it is everywhere. Edward R. Morrow once said "A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves". He was right. And where’s the outrage? Trust me, there won’t be any. If only King George had the present bunch of Americans to deal with instead of the Americans of 1776. we’d still be English citizens. And we might as well be. I guess a couple of hundred years and a pile credit cards is all it took to steal America from a citizenry in a self induced stupor of ignorance and denial. This is a disgrace—our disgrace. Once the greatest nation in the world. Now, no longer and its citizens don’t even know it. Consternation, rage, anger..but, in the end, it's just sadness. Sadness for what this nation has become. If you like the movies, any kind, e.g. comedies, tragedies, dramas, romances, thrillers, scary movies, etc., you will like life. But you will only love it when you know it’s not real; that, in life, you are observer and participant, not hero or victim—and when you know that you will no longer be afraid. Like any good movie, life is not as it seems. But until the plot is revealed, the viewer is always caught up in the drama, a victim of Hollywood and the playwright’s pen. So, too, it is with life. Usually, not only until we reach the very end when the movie’s over do we understand the meaning of everything that has gone before. Life is much easier to live, however, if we don’t wait until the end to seek understanding. If you want the program guide, you will find it. But you must truly want it. Then, it will come. Time is a construct of the human mind and appears differently to each of us. However, it is becoming clear that these times, in particular, have a significance and meaning unlike previous times—this time is different, this time will be a test of time itself. Reality is created individually and collectively. Your individual reality is yours. Our collective reality is ours and each of us must deal with both. There is a reason the pressures are increasing in our individual and collective realities. The pressure is there to force us into the REALITY within. For many, time is about to give way to ETERNITY. We will not leave our individual and collective realities willingly. The grip of the ego, both individual and collective, is far too strong. This time will provide the necessary impetus and force to overcome the ego’s death grip on life; that is, if we are willing to let go. It will not be easy. Nothing is, until it IS. As Leonard Cohen wrote, “To every heart love will come, but as a refugee”. Darryl Robert Schoon www.survivethecrisis.com www.drschoon.com

The film Tropic Thunder is a metaphor for what is about to happen to America. The film’s story revolves around a group of Hollywood actors who find themselves involved in a war they did not expect or can understand. As I watched the movie, it occurred to me that Americans will soon find themselves in a similar situation. Americans today are singularly unprepared for what is about to happen. For years, the US has lived on credit and denial and the ending of credit will force the end of its denial. The tragedy is that Tropic Thunder is a movie but what will happen to the US is very real. Unemployment in California is now at a 12 year high and it is estimated that California’s Unemployment Fund will run out of money by March 2009. The crisis is only beginning. As a result of the conflict in which they found themselves, the Hollywood actors in Tropic Thunder once again rediscovered who they were. It will be fortunate if Americans are so lucky. It is not often one finds critical information on previously opaque matters. Usually, the news is not news per se, it is information predigested and reassembled for popular consumption in order to garner support for a particular point of view. This morning, it was different. The information was a gift from the Universe. This morning’s article deals with the Russia Georgian conflict that unfolded last week. I don’t know what you know or don’t know about this subject. But the article in question was posted today on Asia Times OnLine and was written by a former career diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. His insights are of particular importance. It would do you well to compare what you “know” about this conflict with the facts put forth in the article, Russia Remains A Black Sea Power: http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Central_Asia/JH30Ag02.html The difference between what you “know” and what is actually so is the difference between darkness and light. This is true in every area—economic, political, and spiritual. Darryl Robert Schoon www.survivethecrisis.com www.drschoon.com

For those rightfully concerned about how to deal with an increasingly uncertain future, I suggest the reading of Eckhard Tolle’s The Power of Now. Gold and silver will provide some security against uncertainty but they have never provided peace of mind. The purpose of what is happening, I believe, is quite positive. The problem is that we resist change even when change will bring us what we want. What we are about to experience is a level of change that we cannot resist. If you can find peace NOW, it will help immeasurably in the “future”. Life is very much like a spinning disc. The farther from our center, the faster the motion and the more "out of control" we feel. Only at the very center is everything STILL. That is where we want to be. That is where we will be forced to be if we seek peace in times of turbulence. Good luck, Darryl Robert Schoon www.survivethecrisis.com www.drschoon.com

The US dollar is rallying and gold fell below $800. This is wonderful news for those who hope that the tooth fairy will deliver them from the coming devastation. Those who are sustained by hope have found some.
But what they have found is nothing more substantial than cotton candy. The US economy is declining and will continue to do so. Buy the dollar rally if you wish but the bet is still to the downside and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Optimism, like empires, do not die easily. Nonetheless both do and those who hope otherwise will discover that their hopes are no better than the now worthless AAA rated CDOs held by investment banks .
We have been in South America for almost two weeks and now`believe that someday, sooner rather than later, the US will be less stable than South America. A sea change the likes we have never seen is but in its beginning stage.
Hold tight, let the fools have one last rally and thank God you are not one of them.
