Marshall Thurber's The Checkerboard GamePosted by Darryl Schoon in Untagged |
At the PDN meeting last week in NY, Marshall Thurber had us play his newly invented game, The Checkerboard Game. This is a note to the world: you are going to be reading and hearing about this game in the future. Playing The Checkerboard Game is like finding out what happens when you play Monopoly for real.
The Checkerboard Game allows the participants to experience the formation of societal power on an individual level and the results are revelatory and unexpected. It makes clear how societies form. It also makes clear why societies don’t change.
Marshall wants The Checkerboard Game to be made available to the public. If you ever have a chance to play it, you owe it to yourself (and to everyone else) to do so.
