Home Is Where The ? IsPosted by Darryl Schoon in Untagged |
When I was in grade school in the 1950s, I remember seeing a movie about a family during the Great Depression. I don’t know why they showed us that movie but I still remember it today.
The story line focused on a young girl whose situation was completely foreign to those of us who watched. In that school in the 1950s, we were growing up in a brand new world, post WWII suburban America with lawns to be mowed and trees to be watered. The girl in the movie was homeless.
Now, 60 years later, the decline of the economy combined with the housing crisis is forcing families again into homelessness. A story in USA Today reminded me of that movie, see http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/housing/2008-06-25-homeless-families-foreclosure_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip.
The sequel is now being rolled out across America, not in theatres but in the streets.
